Ken's Body Shop Steps in as Primary Backer of Proud Motorsports Supermodified; Camden Set for Full Sophomore Season in 2020

OSWEGO, NY (January 20, 2020) - In what will be the automotive repair shops’ 27th season with Proud Motorsports, Ken’s Body Shop of Oswego has stepped up to support 2019 Novelis Supermodified Rookie of the Year Camden Proud as the primary backer of the No. 54 in 2020.

The 21-year old, who begins his sophomore Super season in May, used a heat win, one top ten, and six top fifteen runs to clinch the rookie title by a narrow four point margin last season. Proud now has the opportunity for further growth thanks to the support of Ken’s Body Shop.

“I’m honored that Ken’s Body Shop has come through to ensure our second full season in the Supermodified ranks is a possibility,” Proud said. “Ken’s has supported my Dad and I longer than anyone and we are truly thrilled to have them on the side of one of our race cars again.”

Ken’s Body Shop replaces Step One Creative as the primary sponsor on the No. 54 car. Step One has sponsored Proud for six straight seasons including five in the SBS division along with his rookie effort in the Super class. The marketing firm will remain involved moving forward.

“My family and I are forever grateful for the tremendous support everyone at Step One Creative has provided over the years,” Proud added. “We’re fortunate that Shane (Stepien) and team will be staying onboard to aid us in future designs, marketing, and other means of assistance.”

Ken’s Body Shop, located at 5753 NY-104 in Oswego, has been with Proud Motorsports since its early beginnings in 1994. Since opening in 1951, Ken's Body Shop has set the standard for quality auto body repair and customer service in the Central New York area.

“I can’t say enough about what Jeff Jones and his family have done for us over the past two decades,” Proud continued. “It is hard to find that kind of loyalty anywhere, let alone in local motorsports. If it weren’t for Ken’s, Oswego Speedway would have one less weekly Super this year, so I hope our fans will return the favor by looking to them when in need of auto body repair.”

Family owned and operated by the Jones Family for nearly 70 years, much has changed since the 1950’s, but there is surely no question that Ken’s Body Shop’s uncompromising standards and continued commitment to excellence have remained consistent.

The team at Ken’s works passionately to provide customers with the highest quality automotive repair and service possible. Ken’s services all vehicle makes (even boats and RVs), offering the full range of automotive care and repair services including both detailing and mechanical.

Ken’s is particularly proud to be specially certified by General Motors (Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, GMC), Ford, FCA (Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram), Honda, Nissan, Kia and Hyundai to return their vehicles to factory standards. It’s this level of quality that sets them apart from their competitors, positioning Ken’s Body Shop as Oswego County’s premier collision repair shop and one of the top auto repair facilities in New York State.

When leaving Ken’s, customers will be satisfied with a high-quality repair and national lifetime warranty. Their staff stands firmly behind their work and will ensure that all vehicles are returned in pre-accident condition.

Ken’s will now have been featured as the primary sponsor on four different Proud Motorsports machines at the Oswego Speedway; Tim’s 1994 Limited Super, 1998 and 2002 Supermodified rides, Camden’s 2018 Supermodified throwback scheme, and now on the gold No. 54 in 2020.

Proud will look to continue his Supermodified progression beginning with Oswego Speedway’s 70th Anniversary Season Opener on Saturday, May 23. The program will feature Jim Shampine Memorial Twin 50 feature events for the Supermodifieds.

At last season’s end, the Small Block Super vet missed locking in for the International Classic by just two spots, qualifying 22nd out of 36 cars with a career best 16.289 circuit. Proud went on to finish second in a Sunday Classic qualifier before placing 14th in the 200-lapper.

Camden and team will hold their annual Chicken BBQ Fundraiser event on Sunday, March 29 at LaGraf’s Pub in the City of Oswego. Dinners will be sold beginning at noon. Further information will be made available this week.
