Shane Stewart Powers ROCKSTAR/Makita Sprinter to Fourth at I 30

Petersen Media- In 2010 Shane Stewart had a love-hate relationship with I 30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. So far in 2011 in three appearances at the track, Shane has grabbed a second, and now two fourth place finishes at the track by way of his fourth place run Saturday night.

Following his heat race, that saw him start sixth and work his way up to a third place finish, Shane put his ROCKSTAR/Makita/A.R.T. in the top-eight redraw for the 35-lap feature event where he would pull the five-pill putting him in the fifth starting spot.

With the 35-lap feature going green, Shane maintained the fifth spot behind AG Raines aboard his Lucas Oil Products/Finley Farms/Wesmar powered entry as the leaders all jockeyed for position atop the lightning fast quarter mile.

As the lead pack entered lapped traffic on the sixth circuit Shane began applying heavy pressure on fourth running AG Rains until a yellow flag slowed the race.

When the race got back underway, Shane quickly drove around AG Raines to grab the fourth spot, and set his sights on third running Wayne Johnson as the race was again stopped on lap nine for a flipping Jeff Swindell.

The next 14 laps were ran at a lighting fast paced as the leaders continued to jockey through lap traffic, and Shane continued to work on W. Johnson for the third spot through traffic.

Lap 24 slowed the field again for a nine-lap shootout to the finish, but Shane had a lapped car between himself, and W.Johnson.

Once back under way, Shane cleared the lapped car and continued to hound W. Johnson for the third spot but simply ran out of time.

“With the luck we have had here in the past, I’ll take another fourth here,” said Stewart. “I think we had a really good car, but the track was so hooked up you had to rely on other people to make mistakes, and when you’re running with Jason (Johnson), Tim (Crawley), and Wayne (Johnson) you don’t see too many of those.”

Shane and his Silva Motorsports team would like to thank ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK, Makita Industrial Power Tools, Lucas Oil Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Pro Bilt Construction, Palmero Properties, Cross Creek Trucking, Finley Farms, Car and Fleet, Race Gear X, OMP Racing, Wesmar Racing Engines, McColloch’s RV, Shift Creative, Amerikote, XYZ, Hoosier Tire, Pro, Banshee Graphics, Dan Olson Products, K&N Filters, RE Technologies, Weld, Schoenfeld Headers, Butlerbuilt Seats, Vortex Wings, CP Pistons, Cometic Gaskets, Huggins Cams BR Ignitioneering and Seven Industries for their partnership in 2011.

ON TAP: With the finish Shane was able to maintain the ROCKSTAR/Makita teams position atop season long points lead over Johnny Herrera as the tour heads to the Eagle Nationals at Eagle Raceway on June 10 and June 11.
