OSWEGO, NY (April 14, 2020) - Skip’s Fish Fry of Oswego, New York has signed on to become the presenting sponsor of the Xtreme Short Track Sim Racing Supermodified Showdown taking place on Sunday, April 26 at 8pm.
The virtual event will be broadcast live on AsphaltVision.TV and feature a 50-lap feature for the Oswego Speedway Supermodifieds, a 50-lap feature for Winged Supermodifieds, and a 25-lap Invitational for all current and former Supermodified competitors.
Skip’s Shawn Cathcart, who has owned and operated the seafood restaurant since its opening in 2017, is looking forward to sponsoring the event. He has also purchased a simulator rig of his own, and tabbed six-time Classic champion Greg Furlong as driver for the Showdown.
“Skip’s Fish Fry is excited to come onboard as the title sponsor of the Supermodified Showdown 100,” said Cathcart. “With our presence at the Speedway and in Supermodified racing, it was an absolute no brainer to get involved and also get a Skip’s Fish Fry Super on the track.”
Skip’s Fish Fry opened in 2017 and serves the only authentic New England Style Fish Fry in the immediate area. Skip‘s fish dinners, which include their famous Haddock, Scallops, and Shrimp, remain available for take out and delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In parallel to its fish dinners and of course the famous Hofmann Hot Dog, Skip’s is continuing to offer a limited menu of sides during the lockdown; including french fries, onion rings, fried clams, mushrooms, chicken tenders, shrimp, and a new menu item; fried cheese curds.
For the past two seasons, Skip’s Fish Fry has also served as one of Oswego Speedway’s four concession vendors. At the race track, Skip’s is the one and only go-to location for that beloved Hofmann Hot Dog combo meal with Classic Speedway French Fries as the side.
Skip’s Fish Fry is available only for take out and delivery Tuesday through Saturday by phoning (315)-216-4781. Skip’s is located just a few blocks away from the west side maritime district at 42 West Second Street in the City of Oswego, NY.
An astounding 70-plus entries have signed on for the Supermodified Showdown 100 on Sunday, April 26. Those registered include Furlong, defending Classic Champion Tyler Thompson, 2019 Pathfinder Bank SBS Track Champion Anthony Losurdo, Alison Sload, Jeff West, and more.
