Stewart Puts ROCKSTAR/Makita No. 57 in Victory Lane at Dirt Cup Night #2

PETERSEN MEDIA- Shane Stewart remained hot at the Skagit Speedway in Alger, WA as he powered his ROCKSTAR/Makita/A.R.T. machine to the night two victory at the 40th Annual Dirt Cup from his ninth starting spot.

As the 30-lap feature got underway, Stewart quickly began picking off cars on his march toward the front.

By the seventh circuit, Stewart had raced his way past Tommy Tarlton, and Jayme Barnes to claim the sixth circuit as the caution waved for Austin Wheatley.

Back underway; Stewart continued to put his Finley Farms/Cross Creek Trucking/Lucas Oil Products mount both high and low as he charged past Tim Kaeding and Jonathan Allard to secure the third position with his sights set on Sam Hafertepe.

As the long green run continued, Stewart was able to slide past Hafertepe on the 15th circuit as the lead pack into traffic, and began working his way towards race leader, Trey Starks, before the caution flew on the 19th lap giving the lead bunch a clear track.

Once back underway, Stewart and Starks put on quite the battle, as Stewart continued to pressure Starks by way of the bottom of the track. As Stewart continually pulled alongside Starks, Starks did what he could to keep Stewart behind him.

On the 22nd lap, Stewart began changing his exit off of the fourth turn and kept up side by side with Starks as they raced around the track, as Stewart seemed to get the edge on the 25th lap, Starks’ night came to a hault as he slowed on the track and brought out the caution.

The final five laps saw Jac Haudenschild, in the car Shane was victorious in last year, try to track down the ROCKSTAR/Makita entry, but Stewart extended his lead, and raced on to his second win in as many nights, and his third consecutive at the track dating back to last seasons Dirt Cup.

“This thing was awesome tonight,” said an excited Stewart. “I hate to see what happened to Starks tonight because he had a good run going, but I commend him for what he did tonight. Paul and my guys gave me a great car, and hopefully we can put this thing back in victory lane tomorrow night!”

Shane and his Silva Motorsports team thank ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK, Makita Industrial Power Tools, Lucas Oil Products, A.R.T.
