KEEGAN LEADS DILLER & STAMBAUGH GOING INTO FINAL SIM RACE

Merrill, MI – Mike Keegan (Fremont, OH) holds an 86 point lead over David Diller (Elida, OH) going into the Great Lakes SIM Racing Series (GLSRS) final race this Sunday at 7 pm. Max Stambaugh (Elida, OH), Chris Verde (Elyria, OH) and Brad Lamberson (Parma, MI) round out the top 5.

Great Lakes SIM Racing Series was developed to be a winter simulated sprint car racing series. With the Covid-19 pandemic causing a national lock down, Great Lakes Sprints owner Barry Marlow decided to kick it off early to give our racers and fans some racing activities.

To run in the Sunday night league, our drivers had to be a sprint car driver of midgets, lightning sprints, 305s, 360’s or 410’s. A Qualifier League was developed to run on Tuesday nights and was open to anyone wanting to run in the league. Each Tuesday, the top ten finishers were invited to run on Sunday night with our sprint car drivers.

Originally both leagues were set to run 12 weeks, not knowing how long we would be locked down. Over the past 4 weeks, it has been more difficult for our drivers to make the races due to tracks starting to open and our guys traveling to race.

The top 15 drivers will be racing for a piece of the points fund put up Specialty Fuels & Logistics. The winner of the shortened season will take home $350! So tune in and watch it live at Lanier Speedway on the Great Lakes SIM Racing Series Facebook page or on Youtube on “The Dirt Racing Network”. Broadcast starts at 7 pm this Sunday night, June 21st.

We appreciate the support from the fans and drivers that helped us get this series kicked off. We learned a lot in the process of getting the online simulated racing up and running. This Fall, we will be announcing our race schedule for the winter of 20/21.

Thank you to all the drivers that participated and made our first run a success! Thank you to Tylar Rankin (Coldwater, MI) for being the series Director and helping make GLSRS a reality. We’d also like to thank Engine Pro, ARP, Beacon & Bridge Markets, Engler Machine & Tool, Kistler Engines & Racing Products, Midland Steel and Addvanced Heating & Cooling.
