Stewart Charges ROCKSTAR/Makita Machine to 11th at Knoxville

PETERSEN MEDIA- After a pair of 360 races to start this holiday weekend, Shane Stewart and his Silva Motorsports team bolted in their 410 power plant and went to work at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA where Stewart proceeded to charge through the field from his 20th starting spot to score an 11th place finish aboard his ROCKSTAR/Makita/A.R.T. sprinter.

Kicking off the night, Stewart timed in with the sixth fastest lap of the 31 car field assembled at the historic half-mile putting him in the seventh starting spot in the third heat race.

Locked-down track conditions made for narrow racing in the heats, and Stewart narrowly missed a transfer spot in his Lucas Oil Proudcuts/Palmero Properties/Probilt Construction machine sending him to the B-main.

In the B, Stewart utilized his front row starting spot to fall into line right behind Don Droud, Jr. Stewart held the second spot and put the Cross Creek Trucking/Finley Farms/Banshee Graphics car into the feature where he would grid the field in the 20th spot.

The waving of the green flag for the 20-lap feature saw Shane quickly advance to the 18th spot as he disposed of Rob Kulbi and Joey Moughan.

As Stewart settled in him and B main winner, Don Droud, Jr. continued to battle for position as they both charged through the field.

By the 10th circuit, Stewart had reached the 12th spot as he put his Silva Motorsports/ROCKSTAR/Makita machine both high and low on the track to fight through the field.

As the laps wore down, Stewart got passed Droud, Jr with five circuits to go and put heavy pressure of Rager Phillips for the 10th spot.

With the race coming to a close, Stewart held on to his eleventh place finish, narrowly missing out on the 10th spot to Phillips.

“The car was really good tonight,” said Shane. “It makes it tough when you don’t get through your heat at this place, but we made some good laps tonight and really got the car working good in dirty air.”

The Silva Motorsports team thanks ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK, Makita Industrial Power Tools, Lucas Oil Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Pro Bilt Construction, Palmero Properties, Cross Creek Trucking, Finley Farms, Car and Fleet, Race Gear X, OMP Racing, Wesmar Racing Engines, McColloch’s RV, Shift Creative, Amerikote, XYZ, Hoosier Tire, Pro, Banshee Graphics, Dan Olson Products, K&N Filters, RE Technologies, Weld, Schoenfeld Headers, Butlerbuilt Seats, Vortex Wings, CP Pistons, Cometic Gaskets, Huggins Cams BR Ignitioneering and Seven Industries for their partnership in 2011.
