PETERSEN MEDIA- This Saturday night, Andy Gregg will lead his Bret Ervin Racing team back to the track where he finally broke through and captured his first career King of the West Series feature event in May as the series heads to the Santa Maria Speedway in Santa Maria, CA.
The last two visits for Gregg have been strong appearances. In last years edition of the Doug Fort Memorial, Gregg was in a heated battle with Sean Becker for the win until contact on the white flag lap knocked Gregg out of contention and he settled for a third place finish.
During the series’ first stop in May, Gregg charged from his sixth starting position to pass the likes of Tim Kaeding and Jonathan Allard to pick up that elusive first win.
“This place is just one of those joints where we really have been clicking lately,” explained Gregg. “It’s been a middle of the road couple weeks for us, so I’m excited to get back to Santa Maria and hopefully we can snap out of this little slump.”
This years running of the Doug Fort Memorial is set to kick off with cars hitting the track at 5pm for time trials, with racing action to follow immediately.
