OSWEGO, NY (March 31, 2021) - Speedway officials have announced the time schedule for the month of May, beginning with Oswego’s 70th Annual Season Kickoff on May 8, and concluding with the rescheduled 64th International Classic Weekend from May 27 to 29.
After losing its entire 2020 season due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Oswego opens with its earliest start since 2012 on Saturday, May 8, with a full card of racing headlined by a 50-lap Novelis Supermodified main plus action for Pathfinder Bank SBS and J&S Paving 350 Supers.
The following week, one more ‘Classic tune-up’ event will take place on Saturday the 15th for the three weekly divisions.
Both of the season opening races will award full points towards the 2021 track championship in all classes.
The official time schedule for May 8 and 15 will see the front office pit window open at 2:30pm, with pit gates opening at 2:45pm and warmups getting underway at 3:45pm.
A driver’s meeting will be held when warmups conclude at 5:15pm with group time trials for all three divisions to hit the track immediately following.
On both weekends, heat racing begins at the usual start time of 6:30pm.
For the 64th International Classic Weekend, the festivities kickstart with another Open Practice session from 5 to 9pm on Thursday, May 27. All weekend divisions will be welcome to partake.
A New York Super Stock and New York State Compact Championship twin bill plus ‘Pole Day’ time trials for Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and J&S Paving 350 Supers will take center stage on Friday, May 28.
Pits open for Oswego teams at 9:30am, warmups begin at 11:00am, and the mandatory Classic driver’s meeting will commence at 1:15pm prior to time trials.
Single car time trials for the J&S Paving 350 Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and Novelis Supermodifieds will hit the track at 2:00pm in that order.
When time trials draw to a close, all 350 and SBS haulers must be removed immediately after the last Supermodified car pulls pitside. Supermodified teams must have haulers out of the pit area no later than 30 minutes after the last Supermodified time trial.
At 4:00pm, the Sunoco New York Super Stock Series and New York State Compacts will have a driver’s meeting behind the rear grandstand. Teams will then be called into the pits at 4:45pm.
45 minutes of practice time has been reserved from 6:00pm to 6:45pm for Super Stock and Mini Stock teams.
Heat races begin at 7:00pm. New York State Compact Championship heats will be first followed by the Sunoco New York Super Stock Series.
The New York State Compact Championship main event will take to the Speedway at 8pm with the 50-lap Sunoco New York Super Stock Series Finale to follow immediately thereafter.
Spring Classic Weekend will conclude on Saturday, May 29 with feature events for the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and J&S Paving 350 Supers.
On Saturday, pit gates will open at 11 o’clock in the morning, another driver’s meeting will be held at 12:15pm, and two rounds of warmups for all three divisions will begin at 12:45pm.
A pair of Supermodified qualifiers for the non-qualified cars from Friday time trials will go green at 2:30pm.
The 50-lap, 3rd annual Classic 50 for J&S Paving 350 Supermodifieds will be the first main event of the day at approximately 3:15pm.
At the conclusion of the 350 feature, Supermodifieds will take to the track for their full fuel load practice.
The 29th Annual Classic 75 for Pathfinder Bank SBS will get underway at 5:00pm, and finally; the start time for the 64th Annual International Classic 200 for Novelis Supermodifieds is ‘under the lights’ at 7:00pm.
Times for the remainder of the season will be announced at a later date.
Pricing has been announced for all 2021 events and can be found on the schedule tab on the Speedway website.
Fans can anticipate individual GA tickets for all events, including the May Classic, going on sale in the month of April.
Camping sales will begin in the month of May. Both the ‘flats’ lot and turns 3 and 4 will be open for Classic 64.
As Speedway management awaits further clarity on State regulations, it is not yet possible to determine plans for season tickets or VIP passes.
When the official and complete list of requirements for re-opening are handed down from the State and local health departments, we will publish that information for fans and teams.
