Bud Second at Watsonville

PETERSEN MEDIA- Friday night at Ocean Speedway, Bud Kaeding’s Brian Matherly owned, SCI/Kaeding Performance/Maxim was the class of the field, as he dominated much of the race, until the final lap of the feature, and settled for a second place finish.

Kaeding utilized his front row starting spot, as he jumped out to the early lead on the races second attempted start.

Kaeding set a blistering pace on the hooked up Ocean Speedway as Justin Sanders, and Andy Forsberg tracked the Campbell, CA native down.

On the 10th circuit, Forsberg was able to get around Bud, but Sanders got upside down behind the duo, bringing out the red. Under the red, Forsberg returned to the work area to fix a flat and Kaeding assumed the point.

As the race resumed, Kaeding continued to set a torrid pace aboard his K&N Filters/BZE/Factory Kahne Shocks backed entry as he remained committed to the low side of the speedway.

Over coming a couple of late race cautions, Kaeding continued to fend off Shane Golobic as the leaders quickly approached lapped traffic with just three laps to go.

As the white flag waved, Kaeding checked up for a lapped car, and Golobic was able to drive around the outside, and take the lead and pick up the win, with Bud hanging on to a second place finish.

“We had a really good car tonight, and I have to thank Brian (Matherly) and my guys,” said Bud. “2nd really is no fun, and I just messed up late and cost us a win. We’ll head to Tulare and see if we cant put this thing in victory lane.”

With 23 cars on hand, Kaeding kicked the night off by timing in with the 2nd fastest lap during time trials, and scored a third place finish in heat race action.

Bud Kaeding would like to thank Kaeding Performance, Alviso Rock, BZE, Factory Kahne Shocks, Racing Optics, K&N Filters, Yak Graphics, ButerBuilt, and Brown and Miller for their continued support in 2011.
