(Washington, WV) In a successful but rain plagued season the Ohio Valley Speedway put the finishing touches on the 2021 racing season this past Saturday with the running of the traditional Finale at the Valley. With nearly 140 race cars entering thru the gate, competition was high and racing action would be tremendous all evening long at the legendary Lubeck facility. A very fast track would await the winged warriors of the OVSCA Sprint series with great racing throughout the field that would see Pete Smith Memorial winner Jamie Myers set the eventual early pace mixing it up with Wayne McPeek. Sliders and cushion banging was the story line throughout the 25-lap affair but all eyes would turn to Chris Myers aboard the 38k machine as the talented wheelman would vault to the top spot late in the race to secure the impressive win. Following Myers across the stripe was a charging Kory Crabtree, Jamie Myers, Andre Layfield and Ricky Peterson. Crabtree would set a new track record in qualifications with Crabtree and Jamie Myers collecting heat race wins.

In the Las Trancas Super Late Model feature event it was Beckley, WV’s Henry Hornsby making his first appearance of the season a profitable one as the likeable driver would hold off a bevy of talented wheelman to secure the win. A splendid race in which at the race midpoint would see the top four drivers under a blanket in lapped traffic thrilling fans from beginning to end. Hornsby would eventually hold off all challengers to secure the $2,000 payday ahead of 2021 track champion Ronnie Mayle, Chris Carpenter, Tyler Carpenter and Ed Shuman rounding out the top five. Ronnie Mayle would lay claim to the Ohio Valley Speedway Las Trancas Super Late Model track championship.

The Steel Block Late Model series would roll into town with a quality field. A wild and woolly finish would see race long leader Zach Milbee glance off the wall in turn 2 and collect 2nd running Corey Delancey allowing the ‘Moonman’ Thomas Baker to roll around the slowed duo with just two laps to go to collect the feature win. Following the excited Baker in victory lane was Tyler Riggs, Dustin Sprouse, TJ Watson and Glynn Booth rounding out the top five.

A stellar group of UMP Modifieds would take to the track with Parkersburg, WV’s KC Burdette blitzing the 23 car field enroute to the feature win. Finishing behind the winner was Matt Fizer, who would rally from an early race mishap back to the runner up position in impressive fashion, Randy Kerns, 2021 track champion Toby Wilson and Dawson Newell would round out the top five.

Tom Adkins would make a rare stop at the Ohio Valley Speedway and appear poised to collect the win in the Bill’s Auto Salvage 4 Cylinder division but a late race flat tire would relegate Adkins to the infield. This would put Jacob Hughes at the point and the driver of the sharp looking #5 machine has become no stranger to the Ohio Valley Speedway victory lane this season. The Marietta, Ohio driver would put his ride back in the victory circle for the 6th time in 2021. Following Hughes across the line was Josh Ayers, Larry Fizer, Justin Carpenter and 2021 Ohio Valley Speedway 4 Cylinder track champion Sam Dickel.
