John "Preacher" Pearson started his racing career in the 1960's where he built and owned several modified race cars for a couple of decades. He has been a part of Mike Herring's racing efforts for many years. The nickname came from the crew as John would show up on "race car nights" with a parsons hat and an 11 pack of beer. Since then, the term "prayer meeting" replaced "race car night".
