Driver Profile

Derek is a third generation race car driver who calls Owosso, Michigan home. At the age of 7 Derek started racing Quarter Midgets, racking up several race wins. Limited funding caused Derek to have to quit racing for a while but In 2004 Derek and his father teamed up with the late Mike Witzman and started racing Midgets. Derek raced midgets from 2004 to 2006. During his Midget racing career he won his first feature event at Angola Speedway in 2006 and won multiple heat races. Derek started racing Sprint Cars in 2007 and still does currently. In 2008 Derek raced sprint cars in South Africa for a month. He won his first feature at Berlin Speedway in 2009 and has had 9 fast times including a track record at Toledo speedway in 2010. Derek is a Biomedical Engineering Technician at Michigan State University (GO GREEN!)
