Driver Profile

Hi, my name is Shelby McLaughlin, and I have been racing since the age of 6. I started in kid karts and took to the sport with ease. I had 4 feature wins and championship that year. The following year I moved onto junior champ karts, I had 8 wins and took the championship once again at Snydersville Raceway. I would watch my Dad race his Tobias Slingshot on the same nights I raced and could't wait to race it. At age 8 I was ready to!! I ran my first season in the junior division at Hamlin Speedway (which would become my home track), that first year I finished 7th in points and had a heat win. I raced with some of the best in the division, which I really believe gave me the edge as to where I am today. The following year I finished 4th in points, but knew I wasn't done yet!! In 2017 and 2018, I did what no other female and some boys, have never done in the division. I won back to back championships at the Hamlin Speedway. I won back to back races at the Reading Speedway. Best of all I won a National Championship in 2017 and in 2018 I won the World Series Championship.
In 2019 I moved up into the AllStar division. Once again I proved my talent in the sport and need to never give up. I was runner up at the Hamlin Speedway losing by only 1 point. I was a rough one to take, but I will be back in 2020!!! I also ran the World Series in the Allstars, with some big names and finished 8th in points. I can't wait to see what 2020 brings for me, and of course I can't do what I love with my crew chief, my Dad!!!
Update for 2021. What a year!! Won the championship in the slingshot at Hamlin Speedway. Second in points at Action Track USA. Third in point for the Keystone Nationals. 6th in points for the World Series Championship only due to engine lacking power. Had the opportunity to race a stage one modified and a 600 micro sprint. Won a winged 600 micro sprint race. Raced wheel to wheel with some of the micro drivers on the East at Spirit speedway. Happy to announce I have a full time ride in the micro for 2022!
