One of the most unique races in the country took place on Saturday night at the Boone Speedway with the running of the Hawkeye Challenge. Six divisions of cars, staggered by laps per class, and one over all winner. This was in addition to the five regular classes of cars running their regular weekly events. It was a blast from the past on Saturday night at the Boone Speedway when the Hawkeye Challenge returned. It was also the RaceSaver Sprint Season Championship, along with the other regular weekly classes in competition. It was a full night of racing, plus chills, thrills, and fireworks at the Boone Speedway on Saturday night. The portion of the Eve of Destruction that was washed out on the 4th of July was completed including thrill stunts by Dr. Danger and a roll over contest. It was dubbed "Car Wars" at the Boone Speedway on Saturday night. The IMCA Modifieds were vying for extra cash as well as a coveted Darth Vader trophy. Ricky Thornton, Jr. went home with both. Donavon Smith fended off his brother to take the IMCA Stock Car win.
