21 cars the 3/8 mile high-banks of Lincoln County Raceway Saturday Night as the Malvern Bank 360 Sprint Cars faced off against the ASCS North Plains and Western Regions.
Heat 1 went to Chase Porter of St. Joseph, MO over Shayle Bade of Lincoln, NE. Heat 2 was won by Chase Brown of Yutan, NE over John Klabunde of Ft. Calhoun, NE. D.J. Brink of Rapid City, SD won heat 3 over Joey Danley of Lincoln, NE.
21 drivers from 6 different states took the green flag in the 25 lap A Feature in front of a great crowd facing a strong wind and hazy mist. On the opening lap of the race D.J. Brink oh took the Lucky 6 Challenge presented by Electrical Systems Inc. spun in turn 4 collecting Bryan Gossel of Windsor, CO and Blair Cooper of Pueblo, CO. The incident caused Brink’s 21 machine to tip on its side, ending his night and keeping the Lucky 6 Challenge alive. Chase Porter would grab the lead on the next restart and would push his lead over 2 seconds early. A long green flag run would bunch the top 6 cars up though as battles between Chase Brown, Shayle Bade and Joey Danley were wild before a spin caused another restart with 15 to go. Porter would again take advantage of the single file restart using the cushion to walk away from the field by over a straightaway. As laps wound down though, Chase Brown would find speed working around Austyn Gossel of Fort Collins, CO for 2nd and setting his sights on the Malvern Bank Series points leader. Brown would get within 2 car lengths in the final corner but it would not be enough as Chase Porter would grab his 2nd win with the series in as many races. Brown would finish 2nd, Austyn Gossel 3rd, John Klabunde 4th, and Shayle Bade 5th.
Porter’s win puts him in firm control of the points lead going into the series' next race at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, NE on Saturday May 10th.
