18 cars checked in to the Shelby County Speedway Harlan, Iowa Saturday night as the Malvern Bank 360 Sprint Series faced off for the 2nd time this year with the Gunderson Racing Inc. Midwest Sprint Touring Series.
Stu Snyder of Lincoln, NE was the Deatherage Opticians Quick Time in Hotlaps. All 3 heats went green to checkered and took less then 6 minutes of on track action. Heat 1 went to Alex Vande Voort of Knoxville, IA; Heat 2 went to Justin Jacobsma of Hull, IA; Heat 3 was won by Chase Brown of Yutan, NE.
Jacobsma was able to hold off Vande Voort in the Dash to start on the pole of the nights feature race. Jacbosma decided to decline the Lucky 6 Challenge which gave 3x and Defending Series Champion Stu Snyder the opportunity at an extra $2,800 starting 6th.
Alex Vande Voort took control of the feature early jumping out to almost a 2 second lead over the field on a high-side dominate track early. Sam Henderson of Sioux Falls, SD was able to work his way into 2nd and after a battle with Justin Jacobsma early. 2 Cautions helped keep the field tight but with less than 10 laps left the track began to take rubber. Unfortunately for Vande Voort he wasn’t able to find the rubber quick enough and Henderson was able to real him in quickly with 3 to go. Henderson was able to make the winning pass with 2 to go and was able to secure his 2nd career win with the series and 1st with car owner Gary Swenson. Chase Brown was able to steal 2nd from Vande Voort who finished 3rd, Chase Porter 4th, and Stu Snyder rounded out the Top 5.
The series will be back in action Sunday June 8 at Dawson County Raceway.
