Racing action was fast and furious Friday night at the Can Am Speedway with new winners getting back into victory lane.
Shaun Shaw was the driver to beat in the 25 lap Whitesboro Plowshop DIRTcar 358 Modifieds. Shaw grabbed the lead on lap 5 and held off Billy Dunn for the majority of the race until a mechanical failure sidelined him on lap 21. Shaw would the get a good start and hold off points leader Lance Willix and winner from two weeks ago, Ryan Bartlett to secure his second career 358 Modified win and first since September 2nd of 2022 at Can Am
Tyler Stevenson was the first to the checkered flag I the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTcar Sportsman feature. Greg Brinklow looked to be in control and on his way to his first career win in the 20 lap event. A late caution allowed Stevenson to get by on the next restart to drive on to the win, his first of the year with Gavin Eisele and Eric Nier the top 3.
Andrew Hennessy hit a career milestone Friday night in the 20 lap Panther Frameworx Crate Sprints Hennessy would move to third and close in on veteran Ken Klinkowsky and Bruno Richard for the top two spots. With two laps remaining Hennessy made a daring three wide pass off turn four to grab the lead and march on to his 2nd of the year, but most importantly, his 100th career feature win over Richard and Klinkowsky.
Corey Valade had been absent from victory lane over the last few weeks in Sundance Leisure Thundercar action until this past Friday night. Valade was able to take over the top spot and survive a late challenge from David Rasmussen and 2023 track champion Francis White for his third win of the season. Rasmussen and White completed the podium. After a pair of second place runs Caleb Howard finally got a win in the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman. Howard used the top side of the track to get by Haily Brownell to secure his first career win in the 12 lap event. Brownell and Brianna Murtaugh secured the top three spots.
This week it’s the one and only appearance for the DIRT Modified Nostalgia Tour plus a regular show for all five divisions. Priority Wellness Campaign will be the evenings featured non-profit.
