(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 16, 2025 – In a season haunted by mechanical maladies and misfortune, Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing Team encountered more of the same early before coming on strong late to cap an eventful night with the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, July 12.
The Plymouth, Wis. driver’s fifth night of competition with the World of Outlaws in 2025 started on a sour note as his machine failed to fire for hot laps, qualifying and heat race action.
After finally diagnosing a problem with the car’s fueling system, Hartmann put together an inspired drive from 12th to sixth in the Last Chance Showdown to earn the final transfer spot into the 40-lap Larry Hillerud Memorial main event.
The 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car rookie of the year drove a smooth and steady A main to finish 19th from the 24th starting spot.
“Man, what a struggle,” Hartmann, “We found out the tail tank was causing the car not to fire. It was the same one the car ran on the race prior. I didn’t really keep my composure at all. Then, when we pushed off for the B main, I realized I lost rear brakes, so that made it even worse in the B [Last Chance Showdown]. All in all, I can’t thank the Goldsberrys, Neumans and Dave Uttech enough for brainstorming and helping to get the car running. The car runs great now.”
Hartmann is ready to hit the road to Iowa to make his debut at the most renowned track in the sport of Sprint Car racing this Saturday, July 19.
“We will regroup and focus on Knoxville Raceway this weekend,” Hartmann said. “Racing at Knoxville is a lifelong dream. It’s finally coming true.”
Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. and racing commencing at 8 p.m. for the Knoxville Raceway weekly 410 Sprint Car program on historic half-mile semi-banked black dirt oval.
The event will be live-streamed on dirtvision.com.
