Kyle Steffens’ latest outing with the USAC Silver Crown National Championship took the St. Charles, Missouri native to Kansas, where the historic half-mile oval played host to the Evans Building Salt City 100.
Steffens posted a strong qualifying effort, clocking a 21.854-second lap to secure a spot inside the top 10. However, his night ended in disappointment during the feature. While battling for a potential top-five finish late in the 100-lap event, contact from a lapped car sent him into the outside wall in turns one and two, forcing him to retire on lap 81.
Despite the setback, Steffens climbed to fifth in the latest USAC Silver Crown point standings.
