Schumacher, Urban, Taylor visit A-main victory lane
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 26, 2025 – Kevin Karnitz of West Bend fended off a fierce challenge from Cascade’s Brandon Berth to secure his second 25-lap Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car A-main victory of the 2025 campaign in the Christmas in July racing program at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 26.
Nick Schumacher of Eagle turned in an impressive victory in the 25-lap Oostburg Automotive Grand National main event.
Matt Urban of Milwaukee posted a flag-to-flag triumph in the 25-lap Sheboygan Flooring B Mod A-main.
Adam Taylor of Wheatfield, Ind. survived a spirited duel with Zach Raidart of Gurnee, Ill. to claim his second Plymouth Dirt Track victory of the 2025 season in the 20-lap Autometer Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series A-main presented by guest division sponsor Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz.
Kevin Karnitz, who came into the night as the division points leader, grabbed the lead on the drop of the green flag of the PDTR 360 Sprint Car headliner from the pole with outside front row starter Tony Wondra of Campbellsport and Burnett’s Joseph Hintz, who started sixth, in tow during the initial laps.
The first of two caution flags appeared on lap eight when Hintz spun in turn four. On the restart, fourth starter Brandon Berth moved his way into third and then ripped off a slide job in turn four to sweep past Wondra into second on lap 16 as the leaders worked through the rear of the field.
With five laps to go, Berth hunted the lead and attempted to clear Karnitz with a slide job in turn two on the final scheduled lap, which Karnitz held at bay. However, the second caution flag of the race flew seconds later when Eric Wilke of Genesse stopped along the front stretch wall to set up a green-white-checkered flag finish.
Berth mounted one last bid for victory with a slider in turn four of the final circuit. However, Karnitz again turned back Berth’s challenge on the way to his second A-main victory of the 2025 campaign, eighth career PDTR 360 Sprint Car win and 10th main event victory of his Midwest Sprint Car Association career.
Berth had to settle for second, Wondra wound up third, third starter Tyler Davis of Franklin finished fourth and T.J. Smith of Greenville advanced from the ninth starting position to place fifth.
PDTR rookie Greg Goschey of Slinger led the first three laps of the Grand National A-main event from the pole before two-time PDTR Grand National champion Brad Lubach of Kiel swept into the lead on lap 4 from the third starting spot with a low move behind the wheel of Scott Sohrweide’s IMCA Stock Car.
Goschey battled back to briefly regain the lead on lap 6 before sliding back after contact with Lubach near the flagstand on lap 7. A caution flag appeared on lap 8, which bunched up the field.
However, the restart produced a six-car incident in turn one, which resulted in the machine of Chilton’s Nate Ruh flipping onto its roof. With Lubach back in the lead for the restart, Sheboygan’s Ryan Minster moved up from the seventh starting position to nail down second.
Another caution flag on lap 13 allowed 14th starter Nick Schumacher to shoot from third to second and quickly close the gap on Lubach. On lap 14, Schumacher bolted into the lead and pulled away to a full straightaway advantage in the closing laps on the way to his first PDTR Grand National A-main victory of the 2025 season and fourth career main event triumph at Plymouth.
Lubach, who owns the most career A-main victories in the history of the PDTR Grand National division, finished a close second in a guest driving role, Minster placed third, eighth starter Derek Kaat of Plymouth placed fourth and Will Schumacher of charged up from the 17th starting position to round out the top five.
Outside front row starter Matt Urban outpowered polesitter Parker Glander of Sheboygan Falls to lead the opening circuit of the B Mod main event. By lap five, Urban opened up a half-straightaway cushion over third starter Vince Jung of Iron Ridge.
After the first caution of the race slowed the pace on lap 7, ninth starter Cole Thomas of Germantown advanced into second and three-time PDTR B Mod champ Tim Warner of Malone charged up from the 11th starting position to move into third.
Following another caution on lap 14, Warner and Thomas mounted a spirited duel for the runner-up spot. However, Urban was too strong to be challenged down the stretch as he rolled to his first career PDTR B Mod A-main triumph.
Thomas claimed a hard-earned second place showing just ahead of Warner, who placed third, fourth starter Steve Lorier of Sheboygan finished fourth and Spencer Long of Sheboygan Falls moved up from the fifth starting spot to complete the top five.
After dueling with polesitter Tyler Kuxhouse of Antioch, Ill. for the top spot on the opening lap of the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series main event, second starter Adam Taylor assumed the top spot on lap 2. One lap later, Zach Raidart advanced from the third starting position to claim second and quickly bolted in to pressure Taylor for the lead.
Raidart hounded Taylor throughout the remainder of the race as the leader stuck to the outside groove of the third-mile Plymouth oval. Raidart tested Taylor with a pair of slide job attempts down the stretch. Still, Taylor was unfazed on the way to his second Plymouth Dirt Track win of the 2025 season and fifth Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series victory of the 2025 campaign.
Raidart finished a close second, Kuxhouse wound up third, eighth starter Jordan Miklas of Watertown finished fourth and sixth starter Bryce Andrews of Kenosha rounded out the top five.
Dustin Weiss of Iron Ridge won the 12-lap Grand National B main.
Billy Kreutz of Kiel wrapped up the overall fast qualifier award in the 360 Sprint Car division with a lap of 12.173 seconds.
Bryce Andrews was the top qualifier in the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series with a lap of 13.569 seconds.
The 10th full event of the 2025 PDTR campaign, sponsored by JDL Automotive and Detailing, attracted 85 cars, including 29 Grand Nationals, 22 360 Sprint Cars, 18 Wingless Sprint Cars and 16 B Mods.
The 2025 PDTR season continues Saturday, Aug. 2, with action in the Akright Auto 360 Sprint Car, Oostburg Automotive Grand National, Sheboygan Flooring B Mod and IRA Lightning Sprint divisions.
The evening will also feature the annual Kids Coin and Candy Drop courtesy of VanDerVaart Concrete Products, Kids Coloring Contest and Kids Glow Stick Giveaway sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America.
Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying slated for 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
