Swanson leads defending champion Ronnie Gardner by two points entering the race, with female driver Shannon McQueen only nine points back in third. Gardner won last year’s Western Midget feature at Petaluma.

The Honda USAC Western Midgets return to Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. Saturday and defending series champion Ronnie Gardner takes a four-point lead over Trey Marcham into the event.
